Robert Platt – The State of Free Speech At Cornell

Robert Platt, Cornell ’73 and J.D. ‘76, will address the recent temporary policies limiting protests and demonstrations at Cornell. More generally, he will discuss the protection of free expression and academic freedom. As a student, he played an active role in writing the Campus Code of Conduct and judicial system that was in place for 50 years and was active in the debate that resulted in its replacement by the new Student Code of Conduct.

Platt has served on the Cornell Board of Trustees and has remained involved in campus free speech issues since his time as an undergraduate.

This talk is co-sponsored by the Program on Freedom and Free Societies, the Cornell Chapter of the Heterodox Academy, the Cornell College Republicans and the Cornell Review.
